My First Job in Canada
I named the last entry as Job Hunting (1) as I thought I would have to write several entries before locating a job. Luckily, I was offered a temporary postion at YTG (Yukon Territorial Government) very soon after... actually, a few days after the last entry. So I've been working for about 2 weeks now. I'm working as an Administrative Assistant at the Mineral Resources Branch. My job is to provide admin support to the whole office like processing invoices, directing phone calls, travel arrangement etc. The job itself is not very difficult but since the environment is brand new to me, I'm enjoying the work and learning many new things.
Talking about the job, I would have to talk about culture shock first. People these days tend to move around much more; the topic has became increasely important in many occasions. I think it can be very personal and unpredictable depends on different backgrounds and environments. Since Norris and I have been together for 5 years, I guess I've been experiencing small and big culture shock everyday,

so it made it much easier for me when I actually landed in this country. On the other hand, Canada is a very easy going country due to its multi-cultural background. My experience is that the more you care about the difference with other people the more you get frustrated; all you need to do is to feel comfortable with yourself and be open-minded. I really appreciate that my colleagues in the office makes me feel like I am part of the team. For the first job in a foreign country, I think I am a very lucky one!
